Summary of Chapter 11

The chapter is basically about the Civil Rights Movement and what African Americans went through during that time. The chapter goes into detail about the tragedies that African Americans faced. It also shows how journalism played a positive role in changing the way people viewed blacks during that time. The television was invented in that time and reporters would broadcast the negative things done to the African Americans. This showed people that what was done to them was immoral. Martin Luther King Jr. is also recognized into leading the Civil rights Movement. He inspired African Americans to think positively and that change will be made. Well he was right! Martin Luther King Jr. encourged the government to let blacks excersise their right to vote.
